Feedback Reimagined

Pete Berridge, PCC, MAPP - CEO Change Positive, LLC

Picture
Join us for a conversation with Pete Berridge of Change Positive as he discusses the Shift Positive® Method and his book, Feedback Reimagined.

Today's workforce says, "Coach me, don't criticize me." This is an invitation to shift your mindset and introduce you to how positive psychology and building a system of support can change the feedback experience. Participants will learn the language and approach for more effective and energizing developmental feedback.

Feedback is essential when it comes to employee engagement. However, nearly 40% of feedback practices result in poorer performance. Intentions are compromised, context is lacking, and all too often feedback is focused on what’s not working vs. identifying what the individual could do to excel. Additionally, feedback systems lack ongoing support from stakeholders.

Pete Berridge, MAPP, PCC is an accomplished executive coach and CEO of Change Positive, LLC. With a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Pete was determined to leverage the latest research to transform the feedback process and bring out the best in people. He’s excited to bring the Shift Positive® Method to the world as co-author of the #1 New Release Feedback Reimagined endorsed by Shawn Achor and Marshall Goldsmith.

Feedback Reimagined
Discover how to provide feedback that's human, energizing, and effective. You’ve probably experienced the discomfort of receiving or giving feedback. It’s no surprise that research confirms traditional feedback models are broken, often causing more harm than good. If you're a leader, coach, or leadership development professional feeling stuck on how to best retain and develop talent, Feedback Reimagined will show you the way.

About The Shift Positive 360®
The Shift Positive 360® is different than traditional narrative 360s. It uses appreciative questions to understand the best of what is, solution-focused questions to identify specific desired behaviors, systems thinking to garner allies from the client’s “people system,” and social network analysis to gain insight into energy raising behaviors and energy drains.

The Shift Positive 360® solves the design issues present in other 360’s – confidentiality, summary reports, lack of context, focus on weaknesses, lack of clarity, and lack of support. Further it is supported by a technology platform that streamlines administration, provides consistent key messages to participants, and reduces the effort of most narrative 360’s, while providing opportunity to measure progress and impact on the business. Overall, this process is not just about gathering information on your client, but it’s nudging the system on behalf of your client. Website: shiftpositive360.com

Check Your Story Before You’re Sorry!

The Daring Venture

Picture
Come experience a powerful piece of Dare to Lead™.
We will explore "the stories we make up" when we are activated by emotions, the habitual ways we react when emotionally hooked and how these unhealthy strategies impact relationships.

Research has taught us that managing emotions it is a necessary skill for strong and effective leadership.  Emotions give us critical data and if we are not engaging with this information, it has the potential for big derailments. This session will focus on how to recognize your emotions, own and check "the stories you make up," and utilize healthy strategies for communication, and tools for self management resulting in better outcomes and relationships.

You will have an opportunity to privately put Dr. Brené Brown's  "rising practice" in your own leadership/or life.  Bring a specific situation where you were emotionally hooked and "made up a story" or reacted to a situation.
Key Takeaways:
  • Learn how emotions are connected to behaviors, thoughts and physiology.
  • Recognize how your habits of handling emotions might impact decision making and relationships.
  • Understand that “making up a story” is a normal, instinctive response to being activated by emotion.
  • Learn the “rising process” as a healthy way to unpack our stories to get to the truth.

Sparking Your Second Act
Shilpa Lewis, OMNI Mindfulness

Shine on the stage of life by SPARKING YOUR SECOND ACT
  • My journey from overcoming cultural barriers both personally and professionally.
  • How I utilized spirituality and mindfulness to build resiliency. Go from feeling:unfulfilled to revitalized
    • stuck to relaxed
    • overwhelmed to resetting your life
  • How to create a daily routine that supports you personally and professionally through:
    • Meditation develop AWARENESS
    • Mindset techniques learned to take inspired ACTION
    • Mindfulness tools to live an AUTHENTIC EMBODIED life

Shilpa is a Mindset & Meditation Coach, host of the Podcast Omni Mindfulness, Meditation Expert, producer of guided meditations on Insight Timer, and creator of her signature courses Awareness First, Happy Mind, and Second Act.
Shilpa understands the struggles of the modern professional woman who often feels unfulfilled, stuck, and overwhelmed.

Having spent years in the technology space, she witnessed the challenges of working in corporate cultures. She also experienced the challenges of being raised in the 70s in the United States, in an immigrant family, with traditional Indian culture.

Shilpa has had first-hand experience with the personal and professional pressures placed on women leaving them feeling that they lack time and energy for self-improvement.

Throughout her life, Shilpa has maintained her resilience through her spiritual and mindfulness practices.

As a child, she learned to meditate under the ancient Indian Vedic System. Over the years she refined her meditation skills through the influence of her yoga guru Paramahansa Yogananda who is considered 'the father of meditation in the West'. Through his teachings, offered through Self-Realization Fellowship, Shilpa studied Kriya Yoga meditation techniques. In her late 20s, she was initiated Kriyaban Yogi in the Self Realization Fellowship lineage.

As her spiritual self-awareness journey continued, she dove deeper into Vedic and Yogic teachings and went on to receive multiple yoga certifications.

In late 2018, after 20+ years working for Corporate Technology Leaders as a User Experience Researcher & Designer, she felt a calling to pause and pivot her professional path. She realized her "WHY" was her son, Omni. After the untimely death of her mom, she decided she wanted to be more present for my son and family.

In 2020 she received her Sura Flow Meditation Coaching Certification. This meditation style is a softer more feminine approach to meditation. It is a simple 3-step, heart-centered meditation approach that cultivates energy flow, creativity, and inner guidance for self-realization. Shilpa now combines classic meditation skills with more modern approaches to meditation that factor in the movement of energy.

Soon she established her coaching business, Omni Mindfulness named after her son who inspires her every day to do better.

Change Isn't Hard
Guest Speaker: Pam Marmon, CEO, Marmon Consulting

Picture
We have been conditioned to think that change is hard, and as a result, we experience organizational change through that lens. But what if we were wrong?

As the speed of change in our world rapidly increases, organizations and people experience burnout, disengagement, and low productivity. The cost of poorly executed change is astronomical. Competing priorities in organizations cause inefficiency that negatively impact profits. Inconsistent leadership and lack of communications causes confusion and inaction. This is unsustainable and harmful to society.

We can change that! By shifting our mindset about change, we can position ourselves for positive outcomes that align with our desired results and enable us to live a more productive and balanced life. We can learn how to effectively lead ourselves and others through organizational change, and we can grow our personal change resilience to create room for greater efficiency and satisfaction.

We can’t slow down the speed of change, but we can learn to confidently anticipate, appreciate, and thrive during organizational change. This workshop will cover why change efforts fail, how to shift your mindset about change, and how to grow your change resilience.

Learning Outcomes
1. Why change efforts fail
2. Shift your mindset about change
3. Grow your change resilience

Pam Marmon is a progressive change management expert with over 17+ years of Fortune 500 experience leading transformational initiatives in the aerospace, technology, bio tech, insurance, healthcare, nonprofit, financial, banking, corporate retail, consumer packaged goods, engineering, manufacturing, and professional services industries.

Pam is also the best-selling author of “No One’s Listening and it’s Your Fault,” a book focused on how leaders can get their message heard during organizational transformations. She is also the creator of the L.E.S.S.® change management framework that brings precision planning and execution to effective organizational transformations.

Vulnerability & The Enneagram Instincts
Special Guest: Nikki Shultz

Picture
The most vulnerable action we can take is to step on the path to deconstruct our personality. To understand this, we must first understand the practical reason why every human being subconsciously constructs a personality. The word personality itself stems from the Latin word persona, which refers to a mask worn by performers in order to project a different role and disguise their identity.

Our personality is our mask to stay safe in a very human world and is formed around early wounds. The word vulnerable is ultimately derived from the Latin noun vulnus: “wound.” We each have a mask to protect our true self from being wounded. Every human being develops a personality – an Enneagram Type - as a protective mask to function in the world. Paradoxically, our personality patterns are exactly what triggers wounds in others.

When we become aware to our personality patterns of thinking, feeling and action, we transform our relationship with ourselves and others to a place rich with love, compassion, empathy and understanding.

Key Takeaways:
1. What the Enneagram is and is not. Preview: it is not a test.
2. The 3 core instincts: Understanding what they do, how they manifest and why they matter in
relationships.
3. Each Type’s core fear and defense mechanism to avoid vulnerability.

Nikki Shultz is a speaker, leadership team coach, and founder of Courageous Roots Development. After a nearly two-decade career holding leadership positions in product development and operations, she followed her joy and landed in organizational development and coaching. She has completed years of advanced formal studies in vertical development and the Enneagram and
focuses on supporting senior teams to grow into their potential as an interconnected system.

Building a Positive and Supportive Feedback Culture
Presented by Pete Berridge, PCC, MAPP, Co-Founder Change Positive, LLC

Picture
Today's workforce says, "Coach me, don't criticize me"; This is an invitation to shift your mindset on feedback and see how positive psychology and building social support can create a more effective and energizing feedback experience. Whether it comes through a performance review or 360, the way feedback is delivered in most companies is broken. Intentions are compromised, context is lacking, and all too often feedback is focused on what’s not working vs. identifying what the individual could do to excel. Additionally, feedback systems lack ongoing support from stakeholders - the “people system” - to help the person successfully grow and change.

This session will cover concepts to address these shortfalls including positive psychology, system support, strengths-based coaching, solution-focused inquiry, and defining desired outcomes. This will shift participants’ mindset so that feedback becomes far more constructive and enjoyable for both those giving and receiving. Participants will leave with more energy and ideas for transforming feedback in their lives and organizations.

Learning outcomes:
  • Shift your mindset on how to give feedback
  • Learn how positive psychology and system support can create lasting positive change
  • Ideas and concepts to practice immediately

About Peter Berridge
Peter is an accomplished coach and facilitator who utilizes the sciences of positive psychology and executive coaching to help individuals, teams, and organizations be more engaged, effective and productive. Pete became a certified coach through the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara and is adjunct faculty with the St. Thomas Executive Coaching Certificate program. He is one of 350 people in the world with a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Positive psychology is the study of human strengths and well-being which employs proven methods to promote the flourishing of people, organizations, and communities. It is with this training that the Shift Positive 360 was born; a unique way of gathering and giving feedback that is more effective and enjoyable. Pete was determined to bring the benefits of Positive Psychology into the feedback process, which led him to co-create Change Positive, LLC. Pete is also the founder and president of Shorebird Coaching and Consulting. When he’s not exercising his passions across his two businesses, he’s either whittling a bird or chilling on a Minnesota lake in his boat with his Labrador, Lloyd, and incredible wife, Jenny.

You Are Here: Going From Stuck to Success
Presented by Jaime Taets

Picture

We can all achieve great success, and we all get lost from time to time on our way there. We zig-zag through “shoulds” and the pressures of societal expectations by following rules rather than listening to our inner guidance. We let fear or uncertainty cloud our actions. We react with paralysis or avoidance because we feel stuck or have a hunch we could be doing more. The problem isn't that we have those feelings, it’s that we don't know how to move past them. You Are Here is here to help.

In this event, we will discuss these shared experiences that often hold us back as we move from college grad to manager, and maybe even up to boss. Jaime will provide a series of nudges, reflections, and myth-busting truths that will help everyone see the challenges — and successes — differently.

Jaime Taets
CEO, host of “Superpower Success Podcast,” public speaker, author, podcast host, and thought leader…in every one of these roles, Jaime Taets helps people reach their potential. She isn’t afraid to have “get real” conversations about the things that often limit people from achieving success.  Harnessing her own leadership experiences, she inspires frank and sometimes challenging discussions about the crossroads between high-performance and healthy change. Ultimately, her solution-focused insights help people go from stuck to success  every  day—at work, home, and in their personal lives.
